I love Facebook! I just in the last few weeks let my family talk me into opening up a Facebook page and I love it. I love reconnecting with old friends and classmates. In the past few days I have talked to people I have not spoken to in over 30 years. I have typed in names hoping to find out where they live, what kind of work they do, who they married, and how many kids and grandkids they have. Did I tell you how much I love it? I look at their photos hoping to get a glimpse of what they look like today and maybe there will be a photo of that spouse and the kids. I like to read their comments. It gives me an idea of who they are and what they’re thinking. My favorite part is chatting with people or when I get a new friend request from somebody. I just get giddy with excitement as I scroll up to the top right corner to click that request and see who wants me to be their friend. The anticipation of who is going to be revealed is too much fun.
As much as fun as all that is, nothing can take the place of seeking the face of my Lord. I love waking up each morning to see what He has in store for me. I look forward to our chats and trying to get a glimpse of Him each day. He is my dearest Friend. I don’t have to hope He is online – I can always talk to Him. I don’t have to wait on a comment because He has already written them all down in the Bible. He also has requested that I become a friend. Matthew 7:7, “Seek me and you shall find me…” Matthew 11:28, “Come unto me…”.
Seeking my friends on Facebook is for now.
Seeking my Lord’s face in His book is forever.
Love,
Bro. David Gilmore
